Neuropsychology

Definition
Is the study of cognitive neuropsychology and emotional disorders and personality disorders due to brain damage. ie it is the study of the relationship between psychological and cognitive phenomena of brain physiology emotional.
Neuropsychology of man is fundamentally the study of psychological disorders that occur after brain injury (brain).

The brain is the organ of the mind and conscience preside. The mind can be summed up in thinking abilities, intelligence, consciousness, feeling, perception perceived by humans. The term cognitive means something in knowledge (cognition).
The brain and the body of thought then the seat of consciousness, is vulnerable to damage which may cause cognitive problems (capability knowledge) and emotional.

The neuropsychology located between the aim of neuroscience is to explain how the brain logic, anatomy of central nervous system and especially the brain, the physical structure and biological performance and function of brain mechanisms of psychology other whose main objective is, in theory, to understand the logic and organization of mental processes and behavior.

Damage (damage) arising in the brain and memory disorders, among others, the loss of coherence of identity, tend to cause suffering for certain types of injuries that result in behavioral problems. The neurobehavioural term is sometimes used as a replacement of neuropsychology.

The goal of neuropsychology largely from three kinds: diagnosis (identification of disease), therapy (treatment) and cognitive (knowledge of the disease). And especially, thank you to the symptoms that are collected from the examination (history) and examination of patients, it is possible to orient the diagnosis by providing a mechanism for dysfunctional behavior and thinking. The syndrome is obtained in turn may make assumptions about the possibility of brain damage.

In recent years, neuropsychology has made remarkable progress. Just look at how medical imaging (MRI, fMRI, etc.) as well as biological and other investigations such as angiography may be said without ambiguity in the etiology (cause) of the brain injury. This is of course needless to say that further testing is not everything and that clinical examination is still a bright future. However, faced with this new treatment technique neuropsychological approach has been greatly enriched in recent years, particularly in terms of diagnosis.

In terms of approaches and research methods of interpretation, neuropsychology has a strong influence of cognitive psychology, psycholinguistics and artificial intelligence.
The interest in neuropsychology is to understand and know the troubles caused by brain damage that can develop a hypothesis on the normal operation thereof.

In fact, neuropsychology is to predict the consequences of psychological disorders in activities of daily living (M. Van der Linden). Difficulty in neuropsychology is the difference between theory and life. It is the lifestyle of each patient, their environment, habits, may be important for the lifestyle and the possibility of cognitive impairment (functions of the mind). In life every day, some disturbing factors, we say a normal life, such as fatigue, emotion, motivation, food, relationships with others, sports, etc. .. Therefore, this criterion is difficult to realize with certainty in the theoretical field. All this means that the neuropsychological tests performed in the laboratory is not valid with any certainty and efficiency in everyday life.

In summary neuropsychology, and more modern (MRI, CT, radiography) will allow the patient lying on a light approach to complement the specific cause of neurological disease. Thus, neuropsychology will analyze in detail the problems of language and understanding the patient's illness. Neuropsychology will also treatment and rehabilitation of patients and, ultimately, to build a hypothesis on the normal functioning of the brain of the distortion caused by a brain injury.
